Autistic Burnout: Identification & Management
0 / 2

Course Description

Autistic burnout is increasingly recognised in both research and clinical practice. It is frequently misunderstood, misidentified, or conflated with depression, occupational burnout, or ADHD-related difficulties.

This professional development training provides a clear and structured framework for understanding autistic burnout using current conceptual models. The focus is on strengthening clinical recognition, improving differential diagnosis, and supporting recovery in ways that are neurodiversity-affirming and ethically grounded.

You will learn how autistic burnout presents across the lifespan, including in clients who are undiagnosed or who have internalised or high-masking profiles. The training also addresses common assessment pitfalls and explores how traditional therapeutic approaches may inadvertently reinforce masking or overexertion.

The emphasis throughout is on practical clinical application, defensible reasoning, and adaptations that support sustainable recovery.
