About Amanda Moses
Psychologist, Researcher & Trainer
Hello, and thanks for stopping by! I’m Amanda Moses, a senior psychologist, trainer, and board-approved supervisor based in Australia. Through Amanda Moses Psychology, I focus on training psychologists, contributing to research and education, and developing practical, evidence-based resources that support real clinical work.
My Story
My clinical background spans over 14 years of therapy and complex psychological assessment across both Australia and the United Kingdom, where I’m also registered as a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist.
This combination of clinical practice, research, and teaching informs how I design my training and resources— grounded in evidence, shaped by real-world complexity, and focused on what actually helps clinicians in practice.
Alongside my training and education work, I continue to practise clinically as the Director of Divergent Assessments, providing diagnostic assessments for autism and ADHD. I’m also a PhD candidate at the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (OTARC, La Trobe University), where my research focuses on autism identification and diagnostic practices.
About Amanda Moses Psychology
I founded Amanda Moses Psychology to focus on what I care most about: educating psychologists, delivering high-quality training, and developing practical resources that support real clinical work. While my work is grounded in research and evidence, this platform is about more than education alone. It also reflects a commitment to addressing systemic issues within our profession and supporting psychologists to work ethically, sustainably, and inclusively.
I am particularly passionate about:
Promoting neurodiversity-affirming practice and disability rights
Supporting diversity, inclusion, and representation within psychology
Advocating for fair, ethical training pathways for provisional psychologists
Supporting the wellbeing and long-term sustainability of psychologists
What Guides My Work
My work is guided by three core principles:
Lead by example
Advocate for those with less power and privilege
Show up authentically and ethically
These principles shape how I design training, support clinicians, and engage with the broader profession.
Over the years, I’ve sought to put these values into practice in tangible ways, including:
- Self-funding scholarships to support autistic provisional psychologists during their internship
- Providing funding for textbooks and professional development opportunities for provisional psychologists from minority backgrounds
- Sponsoring conference attendance to improve access to learning and professional networks
- Offering fee relief for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to access professional development and mentorship
For me, this work is about contributing to a profession where diverse voices are supported, included, and given meaningful opportunities to thrive.
Training, Resources & Professional Support for Psychologists
I offer a range of evidence-based training, psychology resources, and professional support for psychologists. These are designed to meet clinicians at every stage of their career, from provisional psychologists preparing for the national psychology exam to experienced clinicians refining advanced skills.
My Background
Before launching Amanda Moses Psychology, I spent over a decade working across diverse areas of clinical practice, with a strong focus on complex assessment and therapy.
My clinical experience includes:
- Complex psychological and neuropsychological assessments, often involving nuanced diagnostic decision-making
- Differential diagnosis across overlapping presentations, including neurocognitive disorders, trauma, mood disorders, autism, and ADHD
- Therapeutic work with clients experiencing trauma, suicidality, self-harm, and significant emotional distress
- Clinical work across a wide range of presentations, including mood and anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, OCD, and adjustment difficulties
- Autism and ADHD diagnostic assessments, with a particular focus on internalised, masked, or frequently missed presentations
Beyond clinical practice, my work has also included:
- Serving as Early Career Coordinator at the Australian Association of Psychologists Inc. (AAPi)
- Ongoing doctoral research as a PhD candidate at the Olga Tennison Autism Research Centre (La Trobe University), focused on improving identification of autistic individuals whose presentations are often overlooked
- Regular contributions to Psychology Today (USA), writing for early-career psychologists on clinical practice, assessment, and the realities of working in the profession
Together, these clinical, academic, and professional experiences inform the training and resources I create. My aim is to bridge the gap between theory and practice, making psychological science more accessible, relevant, and usable in real-world clinical settings.
