Neurodiversity-Affirming Training
This CPD course integrates neurodiversity-affirming principles
Course Description
This CPD training equips health professionals to assess and diagnose Autism in teens and adults. It focuses on internalised, subtle, and masked presentations that are often missed in traditional assessment pathways.
The training is grounded in neurodiversity-affirming and evidence-based practice. It aligns with the Autism CRC National Guideline for the Assessment and Diagnosis of Autism in Australia. You will learn how to move beyond checklist-driven diagnosis and strengthen your clinical reasoning when working with clients whose presentations do not fit stereotypical autism profiles.
Emphasis is placed on ethical, collaborative assessment processes. You will learn how to integrate qualitative and quantitative data to support clear and defensible diagnostic conclusions.
The course includes in-depth training in the MIGDAS-2, with demonstration videos showing structured diagnostic interviewing. You will also receive guidance on selecting and interpreting autism screening tools for adolescents and adults, and on contextualising results within broader clinical formulation.
By the end of the training, you will have a structured and defensible approach to Autism assessment that reflects current Australian standards and strengthens diagnostic clarity.

Your Questions, Answered
What does the Autism and ADHD Assessment Training cover?
This training provides in-depth guidance on how to identify, assess, and diagnose autism and ADHD in adolescents and adults. You will learn how diagnostic criteria present in subtle, internalised, and less stereotyped ways, particularly in high-masking individuals.
The program covers differential diagnosis across overlapping DSM presentations, structured assessment processes from intake through to feedback, and the integration of key diagnostic tools such as the MIGDAS-2 and DIVA-5.
You will also have access to practical demonstration videos showing how I conduct diagnostic interviews in real-world practice, so you can see how the assessment process unfolds and how clinical judgement is applied in context.
Does the training include MIGDAS-2 training?
Yes. Comprehensive MIGDAS-2 (Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosing Autism Spectrum) training is included in both:
- The combined Autism & ADHD Diagnostic Assessment Training
- The Autism Assessment Training
You will learn how to administer, interpret, and integrate the MIGDAS-2 within a broader diagnostic framework. This includes demonstration videos, case examples, and guidance on applying the tool thoughtfully within a neurodiversity-affirming assessment process.
The focus is not only on how to use the tool, but how to apply it with clinical judgement, particularly in subtle or high-masking presentations.
Do I need prior assessment experience to complete the Autism and ADHD Diagnostic Assessment Training?
No. Prior diagnostic assessment experience is not required.
This training provides comprehensive foundational knowledge and structured guidance for clinicians who are newer to autism and ADHD assessment. At the same time, it offers depth, nuance, and updated evidence-based frameworks for experienced clinicians seeking to refine or extend their skills.
Whether you are building your assessment skills from the ground up or strengthening an established practice, the training is designed to support your clinical judgement and confidence.
Will this training accredit me to diagnose Autism and ADHD?
This training provides comprehensive education and practical skills to support best-practice autism and ADHD assessment. However, eligibility to formally diagnose depends on your professional registration and scope of practice within your country or state.
In Australia, diagnosis is typically conducted by psychiatrists, paediatricians, and psychologists, with some specialist GPs also diagnosing ADHD in certain jurisdictions.
This training is designed to complement your existing professional qualifications. It strengthens the skills required for accurate and ethical diagnostic assessment but does not replace the need for appropriate registration, supervision, or regulatory approval.
For allied health professionals who may not formally diagnose, the training still provides valuable knowledge to support participation in multidisciplinary assessment and to strengthen understanding of autism and adhd presentations.
What is the format of the Autism and ADHD Assessment Training?
This training is fully self-paced, allowing you to complete the course according to your schedule. It is structured to provide comprehensive, practice-ready guidance on autism and ADHD assessment, with a strong focus on neurodiversity-affirming practice and clinical judgement.
The training includes:
Pre-recorded video modules
In-depth teaching, practical demonstrations, and step-by-step guidance on conducting adolescent and adult assessments. This includes MIGDAS-2 training and detailed instruction on integrating tools such as the DIVA-5 within a structured diagnostic framework.
Case demonstrations and examples
Real-world assessment examples showing how to approach complex and high-masking presentations, and how to apply theory in practice.
You will receive six months of access to the training materials, allowing you to revisit content as needed.
What will I learn by the end of the training?
By the end of the training, you will be able to:
- Apply neurodiversity-affirming principles within diagnostic assessments
- Understand how autism and ADHD present in subtle and high-masking ways
- Differentiate autism and ADHD from overlapping DSM presentations
- Integrate structured diagnostic tools such as the MIGDAS-2 and DIVA-5 within a broader clinical framework
- Navigate complex and co-occurring presentations with greater diagnostic clarity
- Conduct structured, defensible assessments with strengthened clinical judgement
The focus is on building confidence, clarity, and diagnostic precision in adolescent and adult diagnostic assessments.
Is the training CPD-approved? Does it count as active CPD?
