Course Description
Insomnia is highly prevalent in clinical practice and frequently co-occurs with depression, chronic pain, anxiety disorders, and bipolar presentations. When untreated, sleep disturbance can undermine broader therapeutic progress.
This training provides a structured introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), the gold-standard, evidence-based treatment for chronic insomnia.
You will develop a clear understanding of sleep science, including circadian rhythms, sleep drive, chronotypes, and the behavioural mechanisms that maintain insomnia. The course focuses on strengthening assessment accuracy, differentiating insomnia from other sleep disturbances, and implementing a structured six-session CBT-I treatment plan.
Core interventions such as stimulus control and sleep restriction therapy are explored in depth, alongside practical guidance on adapting CBT-I for neurodivergent clients.
The emphasis throughout is on moving beyond generic sleep hygiene advice and applying targeted, mechanism-driven interventions that improve long-term sleep outcomes.
